The client

Hostess.it is a platform designed to connect businesses with capable promoters and hostesses: it aims to enhance their events for the former while helping the latter to find part-time or full-time jobs.

The problem

Hostess' CEO approached us to solve two main problems:

  1. improve the onboarding experience for companies and promoters, making the process more efficient and user-friendly for all parties involved;

  2. find ways to enable their development team to prototype and ship features faster, by defining guidelines and patterns for their UI.

Solution

We started by mapping out all the current flows for each user profile involved. This helped us identify areas of friction and inefficiency that needed to be addressed in order to streamline the onboarding process.

Once we had a comprehensive understanding of the current flows, we reviewed them step by step, removing unnecessary steps and updating unclear ones.

In parallel, we also made an inventory of all the existing UI components, and mapped them to the various sections of the website.

We wanted to create a consistent and cohesive visual language across the platform that would enhance the user experience and make it easier for the development team to build new features.

We also built an interactive documentation that included all the components and their related properties to ensure that everyone in the team had an overview of the UI components and their usage guidelines.
